Umpire Training
Yolo Baseball and the BC Baseball Umpires Association (BCBUA) are proud to offer FREE umpire training clinics specifically for girls and women.
Sessions will be led by prominent baseball umpire Samantha Chapman. Samantha has been recognized for officiating at high-level events like the 2025 Canada Summer Games and serving on the BCBUA. She is known for her dedication to growing the sport and training new umpires, including leading women-focused initiatives. She often works with local leagues and associations and is part of a strong group of women officials in Canadian baseball.

There are 3 steps to becoming a certified umpire:
-
Participate in Rules of the Game classroom session. This is typically delivered online but Yolo is hosting this as an in-person session
-
Write on online test of the rules (link will be sent to those that complete the rules session)
-
Participate in the practical in-person clinic: Plate and Base Work.

What games can I work
Level 1 umpires are able to work games for ages 11U and below, including all of Little League
Level 2 umpires can work all age divisions. Must be born in 2014 or earlier.
